How Doe Deere Transformed the Makeup Industry

Like it or not, the makeup industry is constantly shifting trends and inventing new merchandise. Innumerable beauty experts have a routine in which they follow daily to create seemingly effortless looks. Once the lack of artistic style sets in, these tutorials begin to become nothing more than mundane. That is where the doll queen of unicorns, Doe Deere, comes in.

Doe Deere, LimeCrime creator, began her entrepreneurial journey at merely thirteen selling temporary tattoos to classmates. In an interview posted on Guest of a Guest, Deere mentions how she monetized this item by essentially creating a demand for the product. She displayed her temporary tattoos on herself while asserting that wearing them was most definitely in style. Once everyone wanted a temporary tattoo, they knew exactly who to go to. At such a young age, Doe knew exactly how much confidence and perseverance she had within herself to continue down a entrepreneurial path.

Having spent her childhood in Russia, Doe Deere moved to New York City at the young age of seventeen. Her biggest dream at the time was to become a musician which she accomplished within her time spent in the Big Apple. As a musician, Deere became aware that marketing herself and showing appreciation toward those who love what one can provide whether it is merchandise or a service goes quite far in any business.

As creativity has always flowed readily through Deere, makeup was something she dabbled in since she was young. Who hasn’t attempted to create a masterpiece at a young age with their mother’s or sister’s makeup and ended up with a heated mess all over their face? In Deere’s case, she had a sleepover with her two best friend’s at nine years old and everything she applied on them ended up looking crooked. She did not care at all in the moment as she knew those would be the memories she could easily look back on.

It was not until her twenties when Doe Deere felt more confident in the looks she created. By that time, most companies were producing items geared towards a natural face. Deere, searching high and low, was unable to find a pop of color anywhere in the beauty industry. Many individuals were also beginning to search for colorful beauty products and having no luck which is how LimeCrime, first of it’s kind, became explosive overnight and adored worldwide.
